Pricing and Credits
With PSPDFKit API, each API call consumes one credit. In this guide, we discuss what credits are, how they’re consumed, and how to get them.
What Are Credits?
At its core, each credit represents one request made to PSPDFKit API using the live API key. That means each request you make to PSPDFKit API using your live API key will deduct one credit from your account. If you make a request and you don’t have any credit left, a status
400 with the error code
not_enough_credits will be returned.
In What Order Are Credits Consumed?
If you have both subscription credits and pay-as-you-go credits in your account, PSPDFKit API will first use up all the subscription credits before using pay-as-you-go credits.
We do this because subscription credits don’t roll over, meaning they’re only valid for one month, while pay-as-you-go credits are valid for two years from the date of purchase.
What’s the Difference between Pay-as-You-Go and Subscription Credits?
We offer packs of pay-as-you-go credits, as well as monthly and yearly subscriptions. The credits they grant function exactly the same, allowing you to make a single request to PSPDFKit API with your live API key. The only difference between the two is the validity:
- Pay-as-you-go credits are valid for two years from the date of purchase, and you can buy as many of them as you like.
- Subscription credits are only valid for one month, and while your subscription is active, you’ll get new credits added to your account every month.
How Does the Yearly Subscription Work?
The yearly subscription works the same as the monthly subscription, granting you a batch of credits every month. The only difference is that you pay in advance for the entire year instead of paying for it month by month.
How Do I Cancel My Subscription Plan?
You can cancel your subscription plan at any time. Once canceled, we’ll immediately stop charging you. Any credits that you already paid for will remain available to you until the end of your subscription period.
How Can I Test the API?
If you need to test our API without using credits, you can contact us for a test API key.
